Today was a rare free day for me. I spent most of it reading for pleasure.

I read Jhumpa Lahiri’s The Lowland and loved it.

My God, it was such an emotionally-draining book— and that’s not a bad thing! But it hit me in very powerful, personal ways. There were tears, but they weren’t sad tears, just a release, some final transduction of all the different emotions I felt throughout the book. Someone knows what I mean.

The story builds to a powerful ending and it hits you and it’s painful but beautiful.

I’m drained.
