One day, I will open a lounge style place. Plenty of jazz. Piano. Brass. Perfect lighting. Suits and dresses. Writing. Reading. Singing. Dancing.
This is your invitation. Let me know if you’re in.
Jack Kerouac - October in the Railroad Earth
Listened with half an ear to this audio recording of Kerouac reading “October in the Railroad Earth” over loungey jazz piano. Around & about the ambient New England bray of his accent & the music, all I really hear are fragments; I decided to write them down in blue pen:
spitting into broken glass
feel the warp of wood of old America beneath me
that alley that is so much like the alleys of Lowell [Lowell!]
oh! Frisco, with end of land sadness
all your San Franciscos will have to fall eventually & burn againTry it yourself — the pieces that stick have to be some sort of inkblot.
