Malayali (Kerala) names
Most Keralites have a family name. Most of the family names are of obscure origin, but many have geographical origins … Traditionally the full names followed one of three patterns:
2. Family name followed by Father’s given name followed by Given name. This is common among the rest of the population. For example most traditional Christian names followed this pattern. Usually the Family name and Father name were initialled. In case of (Hindu) women “Amma” was frequently used.
My parents, like many other Malayalees who moved to America, broke from tradition and adopted a typical Western naming scheme (given name + family name) for their American-born children. Chris Sebastian could have been P.S. Chris (or P.S. Christopher). CTS lends itself to a nice logo, but PSC lends itself to postscript fun.
